Congress gets a library

I expect that some of you may already be aware of this, but I wanted to call the attention of the rest of you to a startling development in the library world: the United States Congress now has a library of its own. Called, imaginatively enough, the Library of Congress, it is launching with a modest collection of approximately 130 million items, to be housed in, if my sources can be relied upon, a series of tepees along Independence Ave. That's a lot of tepees! All right, I have now submitted a blog. I promise to be less silly next time.

EBSCO problem

Recently I was looking something up for someone in EBSCO, and found a relevant article in New York Magazine. The notation in EBSCO said the Danvers library does not subscribe to that title, but we do. I think someone else (Matthew?) told me they had run across a similar problem lately. So, people should be aware to check the magazine list, not take EBSCO's word for it. Is this something we need EBSCO to correct, or can we do it ourselves?

answers.com

Hi. Is anyone else using answers.com? I heard about it in one of those email lists from Elizabeth Thomsen. I've been using it a lot lately when I want information about something, not necessarily just websites. Enter a term (for instance, Albania), and typically it will return a dictionary entry, an encyclopedia entry, other information (sometimes too much), and some websites. The sources will be listed alongside the information, and fuller citations are listed at the bottom. If you aren't already using this, give it a try and let me know what you think. Thanks.
