The Case of the Missing Books – Ian Sansom

missingbooks.gifI don’t normally read mysteries, but how could I pass up a book about a Jewish, vegetarian, bookmobile librarian in Northern Ireland? Israel Armstrong spends countless hours travelling to Tumdrum and District, Co. Antrim, to start his new position as librarian only to find that the library has been “shut.” He later learns that his job title has been changed to “Outreach Support Officer” aka bookmobile librarian. The only problem is that all the books have gone missing and Israel is charged with finding them. Israel isn’t really one for hard work and the natives of Tumdrum are not sympathetic to newcomers. If you enjoy laughing at other people, you will find this book hysterical. It took me a while to warm up to the characters, but once I did the book was enjoyable. It was a fun, light read.

  1. Good to know you liked it. I bought this book a couple of months ago and I had a hard time getting into it. The characters just seemed so quirky? Anyway, I will go back to it though.
