Ari Reviews: The Kingdom of Back – Marie Lu

I came across The Kingdom of Back on Tumblr and I had to purchase this book since it had a story involving Mozart and his sister Nannerl since I am a big fan of classical music and the Mozart family. The story takes place when the Mozart children are young and the main character focuses on Mozart’s sister Nannerl who wants to be remembered for her music forever.  Nannerl is an amazing concert pianist who awes audiences when they hear her play. However, since she is a girl composing was not recognized for women to do and was forbidden in the 18th century. When Nannerl’s brother Mozart starts to shine his work and playing she starts to feel left behind and hopeless her talent and who she is as a pianist will be forgotten. When Nannerl one day encounters a mysterious creature who offers her a chance to shine again, her whole world will change and will she be able to fulfill her dreams and desire to be remembered and recognized like her brother? You will have to read more to find out! I personally enjoyed this young adult book it had a lot of historical facts woven into the fantasy parts that I never knew about Mozart’s sister. It was a fun story filled with so much magic and music and I got lost into the book and could not put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves music, fantasy, and is a classical music fan.  The author did an amazing job weaving in music and fantasy with the characters in the book and there was a lot of action and emotions going on I had to find out what was going to happen next!
