Ari Recommends: Daughter of the Moon Goddess – Sue Lynn Tan

Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

This book was an excellent read and when I saw it on the shelves I had to check this out.  The book is about a young girl named Xinyin who is the daughter of the moon goddess Chang’e who explores various kingdoms on her quest to free her mother from exile.  The author did an incredible job with the story that had a combination of lyrical writing, Chinese culture/mythology, and fantasy throughout the book. The book was an incredible story that drew you into Xinyin’s emotions through the various obstacles she endures throughout the book to help achieve freedom for her mother, discover her family’s past and find herself .The book reflects themes of family, mythology, loneliness, honor, fantasy, love, magic, and freedom. I recommend this book to anyone who loves books about mythology, magic, fantasy, and adventure.
