The premise is one we have all seen before in the horror genre. Seeking to find themselves, a person or family retreats to a quiet house in the country, but it seems something else already lives there. Artist Ro has gained success as an artist but no longer feels hungry to create. She rents a large home in the country to rediscover herself but instead finds a nightmarish creature; who only seems interested in getting to know her better. She finds the inspiration and love she is craving but exiles herself. When she attempts to reconnect to the world outside the house her plans go up in smoke. The story breaks through the usual tropes of this horror premise and demonstrates the love bombing and isolation tactics common in toxic relationships. Beautifully illustrated as only a comic about an artist and creativity can be. Fans of Joe Hill will enjoy this quick and haunting comic.
