Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – by Seth Grahame-Smith

ppzFunny, cute, totally different, with a bit of the bizarre thrown in, this is how I’ve been describing this book to friends. If you’re expecting a complete re-telling of Ms Austen’s classic, you will be disappointed. The author has instead kept much of the original work intact and thrown in his zombie mayhem for good measure. For me this worked the majority of the time. There were a few scenes that I felt could have been worded better, and the whole backstory of Lydia and Wickham dragged on a bit, but overall I think you just have to appreciate the tongue in cheek humor for what it is. My favorite scene: Elizabeth and Lady Catherine getting into a ninja fight where Elizabeth totally sends her packing. I mean ‘cmon, who never wanted to see that happen?
